What a nice surprise! We were looking for a nice African that didn't have to steep prices and this one I can only recommend.
We took the mixed menu for two people. It has plenty of different dishes on it and everyone can find sth to enjoy. Especially the vegetarian dishes tasted amazing and the pancakes were also really fresh and delicious.
The whole setting of the place is really cosy and creates a nice atmosphere. The waiters are nice and also give good recommendations. Having a dju dju beer was a nice addition to the meal and the way they serve it is also quite cool.
Definitely a nice experience. We will come again soon!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 12 okt. 2023
Food: The food here is pretty okay; I would say the red lentil stew was my favorite. Lots of options of stews and combinations at a very fair price!
Service: The staff here are so welcoming & friendly. It honestly made the dining experience that much better -- they went around offering freshly made traditional coffee and popcorn after the meal. Such a memorable touch to wrap up my dinner!
Ambiance: Very homey feel to this establishment. Charming cultural decor surrounds you at the restaurant. There is a bar section and a table dining section. There is also a circular nook inside where one can enjoy a more circular, cultural seating arrangement. This is a great place to enjoy a casual dinner that's a bit more intimate, in my opinion.
I enjoyed my company/meal so much that I forgot to take pictures of my food! But, here are a couple of photos of the traditional coffee cup and honey wine glass.
Overall, I highly recommend Bejte if you are Berlin. You will not regret coming here for an experience -- such a wonderful way to end a day of walking/sightseeing!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 20 okt. 2020
Berlin never disappoints when it comes to delicious international cuisine. I was craving Ethiopian so my brother took me to his favorite Ethiopian restaurant. He comes here quite often that the owners actually know him already. I wish we had more people with us so we can share more things. Dinner was delicious!

We were impressed with the reviews and booked a table for dinner, sitting outside. We arrived, were seated, and put in our order pretty quickly. Drinks arrived, and we chatted and caught up with each other. I'd read reviews that food was pretty slow, so had a snack before I came out and wasn't starving. THANK GOODNESS.
Food took an hour.and.a.half. Yes, a full 90 minutes. For a range of tasty curries that were either in a slow cooker or heated in the microwave, plus injera. I have absolutely no idea what took so long. Made worse by the fact that there were no appetisers or nibbles. We asked a few times and were told it was coming soon. I think we did manage to get one more round of drinks in that time, but had a hard time getting drinks topped up with food.
Food was good when it came, we did a veggie combo and a meat combo. They were very good, but not at all worth the wait. I would hope it was a fluke but looking at other reviews I suspect it's not something they are good at, so I can't really recommend it at all.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 31 maj 2017
3.5 stars. Cute restaurant with a lot of character. The workers are really kind and attentive. We got a combo vegetarian platter. The food was good, but not great. The Ethiopian restaurants back at home have more flavor, so that's what I'm used to. I do like that you can end the meal with some complimentary popcorn.

The food was very tasty and less spicy than Ethiopian food that I am used to. Everything was very flavorful and richly seasoned. My plate came with lots of veggies in addition to the meat and was very reasonably priced! The kitfo was delicious and a little spicy; the flavors other than spicy stood out spectacularly. I wish this restaurant was closer to home. My waiter (possibly the owner?) was really nice and spoke English well.

Excellent Ethiopian food! Wow! Such fantastic flavors! The restaurant is cozy and really transports you. Get a big meat and veg combo plate so you can taste lots of things. The banana beer and honey wine were two really yummy regional choices! Loved my experience!

I'm a big fan of Ethiopian, but this was one of the worst I've been to. Charming atmosphere, a bit much (an Epcot Center vision of Ethiopia, perhaps), but all of the vegetarian dishes tasted the same, the chicken was oversalted, and the injera was rock bottom - little sour teff taste, and quite watery to boot. Only gets the second star for being a rarity in Berlin, and for trying to please (too hard) with their atmosphere.

I really wanted to give 4 stars, but even after waiting a week, the experience is still a big negative.
We asked the waitress questions to decide whether to take injira to share or each will take a dish, because we aren't super hungry and don't know the dish sizes.
She said she doesn't know how many dips are there in the 2 injira options we asked about, and was impatient when we asked what would she recommend given we are not very hungry.
The allergenic marking suggested the from the 2 non-meat injiras one has dairy and one is vegan, but she insisted both are, while not knowing what exactly the dips are.
We ended up sharing one injira with dips and taking a beer each.
The beer (pils) arrived with very little bubble. Felt a lot like it came from the bottom of the keg, so we asked if we can get a fresh one. This time it was a waiter, and he almost argued with us that it was opened just today and that we "can come with him to the basement to see, 100 bucks if it's wrong". Almost felt like at a market. I said I would like another beer, he said ok, took my beer and never came back to our table.
The injira was tasty as they always tend to be, but nothing unique. The bill was about 35€.
So to summarize, the food is nice and I wish the experience was also nice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
